Regional Girls

The South West Regional Girls Under 14 and Under 16 Volleyball Squads

The South West Girls Squads are part of the Volleyball England Regional Talent Development Programme. Training is offered to girls under the age of 16. There are two squads: Under 16 and Under 14.

Monthly training sessions are held from October to April for both age groups; each session is usually 5 hours long.

  • Under 14 Girls. School years 7, 8 & 9. (Younger girls may train by prior agreement)
  • Under 16 Girls. School years 10 & 11

Objectives

  • To offer opportunities for young players to improve their play by working with the regional squad coaches
  • To have the opportunity to meet other young players from around the region
  • To prepare regional representative teams to compete in the National Inter Regional Championship held during the early May Bank Holiday
  • 12 girls will be selected to represent the South West at each age group

Players who want to succeed in reaching the representative team will be expected to attend training sessions regularly. Training is held at:

Costs

The staff are all volunteers but  unfortunately it is necessary to charge fees for training.

Training fees this season will be £5.00 per session.
