Dear All,
As Junior Development Officer for the South West Volleyball Association I wanted to announce the first of the monthly junior developmental  training camps starts 23rd September in Bristol.
For those who are new to this concept, it is a series of monthly training sessions designed to give  opportunities to those seeking more training beyond their club training and/or playing in the Junior Grand Prix events. A chance to be coached by top coaches and to train with equal aged and able players from the region. It is a grass roots initiative provide by SWVA to compliment the Junior Grand Prix series.
For this first camp we invite all junior players between the age of 12-15. We welcome also children who may have recently started playing and can handle basic skills. It is not designed for total starters. As players return to each monthly camp, the progress will be very recognisable and helps clubs with more confident juniors.
As the training camps move around the region, it gives children who may previously not have made the journey to Exeter a perfect chance to attend.
Next Camp will be 4th Nov – Riverside LC, Exeter 11am – 2pm (Girls) 2pm-5pm (Boys). All training camps are displayed on SWVA web site calendar at https://www.swva.org.uk/calendar.
I encourage any Club Secretary or Junior Club coaches to encourage any young players that they know about to attend the monthly training events, or just the few that suit logistically.  Please forward email to others who may want to hear of this.
This first camp being in Bristol, we hope to attract young volleyball players from the Bristol and surrounding counties and M4 corridor, such as Gloucester, South Wales, Wiltshire as well as the usual clubs who always forward their juniors.
Prior to training all players must have registered via the SWVA web site (see https://www.swva.org.uk/south-west-junior-training) and provide a completed (by the parent or guardian not the player) parental consent form (available from https://www.swva.org.uk/sw-regional-training). For insurance reasons players will not be allowed to train without these, although I will have some blank parental consent forms with me I do not guarantee to have enough for everyone.
The pinnacle of the series of training camps is that the best 12 players will get selected in February to represent their region for the National Inter Regional Championships over the weekend 26th-28th May. 12 players will be selected for each of the below categories
Girls – Under 15 squad & U17 squad
Boys – Under 15 squad & U17 squad
Everyone has an equal chance to make the squad. If not this year, then can try again the following season.
If you have any questions then feel free to contact me in the first instance.
Regards
Jurek
