ENG beach women lose final

England’s beach women will face a wait to see if they will qualify for the Commonwealth Games, after defeat in the final of the European Qualification tournament. Jess Grimson and Vicky Palmer lost 2-0 to hosts Cyprus in Larnaca. The Cypriot pair automatically qualify for the Commonwealth Games as tournament winners.

It’s a disappointing defeat as the English pair had beat all the other teams, including Cyprus, in the group stages of the four-way tournament, which also saw home nations Wales and Scotland competing.

England’s top each women will now have to see if they can gain qualification to next year’s Commonwealth Games through gaining enough ranking points or even a wild card entry.
