I’m sure most people have heard about the fire at the Exeter Riverside LC last week (21st Feb). The double court venue is well used by the sport of Volleyball in the region and will be familiar with most players for matches, tournaments as well as the home training venue for the SW Junior squads.
The fire was contained in the Heath Suite and the sports hall has not been damaged in the fire, the River centre staff have all been very helpful in keeping us informed on the on going situation and have been working hard to see if it is possible to re-open this part of the leisure Centre for us. Unfortunately the building has failed its health & Safety check and hence no member of the public is currently allowed in.
A number of Exeter clubs use the venue for their local, SW, NL and BUCS matches and its the home venue of the Torexe VC. The club would like to thank everyone for there support and offers of help with training sessions, match court time and equipment. At the time of writing, we have no timeline for the venue re-opening.
