Lisa Wainwright, Chief Executive of Volleyball England, has been appointed by the FIVB as one of the five members of the Ethics Panel of the International Volleyball Federation. Her appointment was made at the FIVB’s 33rd World Congress held in Anaheim, USA in September.
The only European candidate elected to join the Panel, Lisa is also leading the way for women in sport as the only female member.
The Ethics Panel reviews issues of an ethical nature and submits proposals to the Board of Administration or the FIVB World Congress. The Panel consists of a Chairperson, a Vice-Chairperson, and three members appointed by the Congress.
UK Sport Chief Executive, Liz Nicholl said: “Congratulations to Lisa on this appointment to the FIVB Ethics Panel. I am confident that she will make a significant contribution to the work of the Panel and her appointment is an acknowledgement of her experience and the dedication she has shown in her leadership role at Volleyball England.
“Lisa is an alumni of UK Sport’s Women and Leadership Development Programme and I’m pleased that she now has the opportunity to apply, at an international level, the skills she has developed, and applies so well in the UK. I wish her all the very best with this new responsibility.”
Newly appointed Lisa Wainwright added: “It is a real honour to have been elected to the first FIVB Ethics Panel by the World Congress Members, particularly as the only women and representing Europe. I look forward to the task ahead.”
André Meyer, President of the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV), commented: “After all her hard work and dedication Lisa thoroughly deserves this appointment and we are pleased that she will be there to represent the CEV on all important matters.”
The other members of the Ethical Panel are Khlaid Abu Rashid of Saudi Arabia, Abdelhadi Ghzali of Morocco, Ruben Urrutia Guimares from Uruguay and Jose Joaquin Puello from the Dominican Republic.
