PMVC Volleyball Launch Week at Tor Bridge – UPDATE

9/11/12 – It has been a Landmark Week for PMVC as we had our Volleyball Launch week at Tor Bridge High. Coaches Carla Garth and Matthew Rhymer helped to deliver an introductory session to over 500 children over 5 days!

There was a great atmosphere over the whole week with high praise from the Principal and the Curriculum Leader for PE. All the teachers were very enthusiastic and, as a consequence, are teaching it this term for PE and offering it as a 4th sport for all GCSE students.

The next step in the Academy process is our after school club starting on 12th November up until Christmas. We hope to be entering team in competitions from the Spring Term and also to run some Young Officials and Young Leaders awards for those who show enthusiasm to take their volleyball knowledge further.

This has been a very successful venture so far and it is still early days – well done to all who have helped us to get to this stage, such as the coaches and the Staff at Tor Bridge but especially to Charlie Huitson who helped to get the ball rolling in the very early stages.

14/11/12 – Update – there were 42 in attendance in the first after school club on monday – a good mix of girls and boys from years 7 to 10 – a fantastic turnout for the first session – lets hope the enthusiasm continues!
