VbDC – Summer Camps 2019

Earlier this year you very kindly shared some information to your SW volleyball network, via the newsletter, about our plans to create a team to take to the AAU national Championships in Florida. Although we did receive commitment from seven athletes ready to go to Orlando, we decided to put the project on ice for 2019 and instead focus on recruiting and selecting a team for 2020.

We knew that with the very short notice that the AAU gave us this year, finding enough of the right standard of players was going to be difficult, however we are now in the planning stages for team training and selection for 2020 and we’re very excited about the opportunity that this will provide for our young athletes. I would very much like to keep you updated on those plans, as and when they become finalised, so that the wealth of junior talent that is being fostered in the South West can have a chance to involve themselves.

In the meantime, I’d like to make you aware of two volleyball camps that we are running this summer. There are still places left on our Pre Elite and Elite camps. The camps are held in our top class facilities at the ACS school in Cobham and will be headed up by a roster of very talented UK based and international coaches; Carol Gordon, Piotr Graban, Will McDonald and Arjen Schimmel are just some of our coaching staff for this summer.

If any of your athletes would like to attend and need a place to stay locally, then we can arrange this with one of our host families or help to find other suitable accommodation. These camps are a truly memorable event for junior athletes, not only an opportunity to develop their skills and experience over the week. I wonder if there is an appropriate way for you and the SW Association to spread the word, as you so kindly did back in April?

Many thanks for your support so far and if you have any questions about us, our camps or the tour next year then please do get in touch.
