It's been an excellent summer and although a lot of us are still involved in
various beach and grass programs, the indoor season has already started for
some.
Just a reminder to everyone, that they need to be registered with the SWVA
before they can take part in any SWVA event, this has been a requirement for
adults for many years although the registration process changes every now and
them. Like last year your registration will be done by your club sec / team
contact / team coach etc, who will need to login to the SWVA web site and
allocated a number via your club page. Last year you had a club user name and
password, this everyone has an individual user names (your email address) and
passwords, these have been issued to everyone involved. Once logged in, you also
have access to the members area etc.
For some reason, not all juniors have registered before, so starting this
season, all juniors will now need to be registered before taking part in any
SWVA junior event. The process is the same as for the adult players, your club
sec / team coach / team contact etc will register you via your club page on the
SWVA web site. Again, user names and passwords have been issued to all known
junior contacts, if you are attending one of the junior squad training session,
please sign in before, see item below.
Junior registration number will need to recorded on all junior entry forms,
it is not our aim to stop anyone playing or taking part but we do need to know
who is taking part (an insurance and membership requirement).
Forgotten your Password..... Should not be a problem, enter your email
address and go through the lost password route (this mostly works although it's
not guaranteed) or drop me an email and I will reset it.
Have a good season

the Calendar, with the boys starting on the 14th Sep (in Exeter) and the Girls

- The training is run to offer opportunities for young players to improve
their play by working with the regional squad coaches.

Inter Regional Championships.

PMVC to hold a 25 Hour Volleython at Plymouth Life

September 2013. The event will begin at the Life Centre at 17:00 on
6/9/2013 and end at 18:00 on 7/9/2013.
We are hosting this event for the following reasons:
- To Celebrate 25 years since the formation of the EDVA
- To celebrate one year on from London 2012
- To raise the profile of all the forms of Volleyball to be enjoyed
in the 2013/14 in Plymouth and the local area
- To raise money for charity – our chosen charity is Heartswell SW
which is a registered charity committed to supporting heart
patients, their partners and carers across the Westcountry.
|
The programme for the days (and night) will include a range of activities
including preseason friendly fixtures for each of our PMVC teams (2 in EDVA
Division 1, 1 in SW Ladies and 1 in SW Mens Leagues), a through-the-night king
and queen of the court competition for anyone to enter, as well as Junior,
Adult and sitting volleyball coaching sessions on the Saturday afternoon. (The
full programme of events is still to be formalised and will be dependant on
availability of teams for friendlies.)
The event is open to all to participate and you do not have to be part of
the PMVC club to be a part of the action. You don’t have to do the whole 25
hours either so it doesn’t matter whether you are young or old, a beginner
or experienced or an individual or a team we will welcome you to get involved.
If you are a player, part of an EDVA or local league team, or a SW Men’s
or Ladies side and want to challenge one of our teams, please contact Rob
Young on 07584 688282 or email on ryoung6189@gmail.com
so we can provide you with the necessary sponsorship forms to be a part of the
action – we will also be happy for people to join in on the action on the
day where our organisers will be happy to receive any donations towards the
event.

Web Site League Software Update
Our web site league software has moved, it was previously hosted on the
www.ukvolleyball.co.uk domain but it has now been moved to
www.swva.volleyballmatches.co.uk. If you are displaying the league tables,
fixtures and results on your club web site, you will need to change the iframe
URL.
How to add to your web site….
The SWVA league software uses iframes commands for displaying league
tables, fixtures and results on the SWVA web site. The program has a number of
facilities, one of which allows clubs to display there own league and result
information on their own web sites. The program uses iframe commands that are
simple to use and to incorporate into your own web site.

to adding League tables to your web site

International Success for SW Beach Players
The newly formed Volleyball England Junior National Beach Volleyball
programme had it’s first international challenge in the form of the 2013
Northern European Volleyball Association (NEVZA) Under 19 Beach Volleyball
Championships in Drammen, Norway between 13-15th August.
After a summer of preparation at both Volleyball England Beach Tour events
and holding camps, England had representation in both the boys and girls
events, with Will Hartnoll and Sam Allen, and Anaya Evans and Mille Constable
representing respectively.
Girls – Millie Constable and Anaya Evans
The girls got off to a winning start beating Norway3 by 2 sets to 0 (21-15,
21-17). Spurred on by this early win the girls went confidently in to their
second match against Sweden. Although a much closer match, the English pair
still took a convincing 2-0 victory (22-20, 21-19). Their successes at this
stage secured them a well deserved place in the semi-finals where they would
face Norway1. The pair battled against the Norwegian first team, but were
defeated by 2-0 (11-21, 7-21). In the subsequent bronze medal play off match
the girls faced yet more Norwegian opposition in the form of Norway2. The
first set saw Evans and Constable struggle and lose the set 6 points to 21.
The girls weren’t dismayed by the first set result and dug in for the second
set and managed to push the Norwegian team, despite losing the set taking it
to a much closer 16-21.
Boys – Will Hartnoll and Sam Allen
In their first match of the championships the boys faced tough opposition
in the form of Norway2. Despite a solid overall performance Hartnoll and Allen
were unable to secure a victory losing the match 2-0 (14-21, 10-21). In their
second game of the day the pair faced Norway1, the tournament’s best team.
The boys played their best game of the day so far and despite initially
leading in the first set at 18-16, the game concluded in the favour of Norway1
at 18-21 and 16-21. In their last opportunity to secure a place in the
semi-finals the boys faced yet more Norwegian opposition in the form of
Norway3. Despite yet more excellent play from the English pair they were
unable to secure victory with sets of 12-21 and 13-21. In the fifth and sixth
place playoff match the boys found form and pushed the team from Iceland to a
three set match, Despite losing the first set 17-21, the boys battled back and
took a convincing win in the second set at 21-11. Unfortunately the Icelandic
team responded to this win and came back taking the third and final set 8-15.
Final rankings for the 2013 NEVZA U19 Beach Volleyball Championships were:
Results Girls
1. Iceland
2. Norway 1
3. Norway 2
4. England
5. Norway 3
6. Sweden |
Results Boys
