They beat Turkey in a closely fought match 2-0 and progressed in the knockout stages. Meaning they could finish no lower than 12th, however only 11 teams would go to Mexico.

In the elimination stages, they had a 2-0 loss to France meaning they were fighting for 9-12th place. but rebounded back and took a three set 2-1 win against Spain meaning they could finish no lower then 10th. They lost to Greece 2-0 but are able to take many positives moving forward into the next round in Acapulco Mexico.

They will have to secure funding to support the trip so if you would like to help please contact the club

New South West VA Logo’s

cropped-SWVA_logos.jpg

We have launched our new range of SWVA logo’s, there are a total of eight in the collection and can be used for Indoor, Beach, Grass and Sitting volleyball.

Two years ago we started the search for a new SWVA logo, I am pleased to say that this has now been completed. We now have a total of eight new logos that form a SWVA theme, from this we have selected one as our main SWVA logo.

swva_spike_blue_216

As well as input from the committee, the logo has been selected by this years SW IRC girl’s and boy’s squads during their recent trip to London. You may have already seen it at the SW Champs event but we will be officially launching the new logo at the AGM today. Well done to everyone who took part in the process.

noise_web

Sat in the sports hall all on my own in the morning, my noise metre recorded a noise level of 53 dB’s. [Quiet / Light Auto Traffic / urban daytime]

Once the action started it maxed out at 102 dB’s for the women and 100 dB’s for the Men.  [B-747-200 Takeoff / Blow Dryer / Helicopter / Chain Saw / Subway Train].

FYI The event hooter is regulated at 100 dB’s (a noise safety requirement)

Out side, in the picnic and sun bathing area, it was much quieter.
