We are looking to further develop the beach side of our sport with the introduction of the South West Beach Grand Prix. We started with the SW Junior Beach Championships in 2008 followed by the Southwest Junior Beach Tour the following year.
We now believe it is now time to add a Senior Beach Grand Prix to our list of events. The aim is to run the event in a similar formate to the junior beach tour, by using existing events, where players pick up points at each event that will count towards the overal tour results.
Events currently on board are Exmouth, Croyde and Perranporth, we hope to sign up a number of other events before the start of the summer season.
Participants
To enter, you will need to register with the SWVA and then enter the various events around the South West Region that will make up the SW Beach Grand Prix Tour.

Prize
We don’t have the funds for free holidays or cars etc but you will be awarded the title of UK South West Beach Champion plus we will nominate you for one or more of the following events as SW Champions to help you progress in your beach volleyball career.
- A BVAW event, a Beach Volleyball Around the World recreational events, held at FIVB events.
- Represent the SWVA at the “Nord-pas-de-calais” North of France Beach Tour Tournament.
- A senior round at a Volleyball England beach event etc
- or any similar event.

SW Beach Grand prix Tour Organiser
We are also on the look out for a Beach Grand Prix Tour Organiser. This is a great opportunity for anyone who would like to help develope the sport of beach volleyball and to have a great addition to their CV.
Many volunteers run the sport of volleyball, some jobs are small, some are quite involved and some can be life changing positions. With the volunteer developing and exhibiting a wide range of skillls, management, accountancy, fund raising, sponsorship, public relation, TV and Radio work etc.
These exciting jobs don’t come up very often but when they do, people find that they are impressives addition to their CV and a great conversation peice at interviews etc.
No pay, just appropriate expenses but if you can develop sufficient sponsorship income, then of course we will look to rewarding you for your time etc.

Beach Event Organisers
We are looking to add a South West Beach Grand Prix Tour Title to our expanding series of beach events. You may recall that we stared the SW Junior Beach Championship in 2008 at Exmouth and the SW Junior Beach Tour the following year.
These developments have had mixed success, they have been quite popular but todate have not spread thoughout the region. We are now in a position to expand this format into the senior game and to offer you the opportunity to include a round of the 2012 South West Beach Grand Prix at your event.
To add a round to your beach event, we will require the following to be agreed:
- We require your event to provide a set of results showing where everyone finished, as all Grand Prix entrances will be award points on their final platings. E.G. If they finished 5th, 10th & 15th etc in your enve, then those teams / players will pick up points as if they finished 1st, 2nd & 3rd etc within the SW Grand Prix event.
- PR photos of the highest places Grand Prix teams (ladies and men’s).
- Space for any sponsorship banner advertising
- A report of the event for the SWVA web site
It is our aim, to add value, more players and hence more income to your event, in return the region will gain a Grand Prix event plus more PR that will hopefully result into more press, TV coverage and sponsorship.
Although not required, you may wish to think about adding a round of the SWJBT to your event as well, more details from Denise Austin.
It is hoped that this system will encourage players to attend more events around the region (to pick up points) and not to just to attend he main events.
If your event signs up go be part of the Beach Grand Prix, you will be able to promote your event as part of the SW Grand Prix, use the SW Grand Prix logo etc in your PR etc, advertise your event on the SWVA web site and be promoted by the SWVA mailing list.
At the moment, the following three events have already agreed to be part of the event, Croyde, Perranporth and Exmouth. We are also advertising for a Beach Commissioner to run and develope the Beach Grand Prix Tour program.
As well as picking up the SW Beach Grand prix title, we will nominate the winners for one or more of the following events:
- BVAW – A Beach Volleyball Around the World recreational events, held at FIVB events.
- Represent the SWVA at the “Nord-pas-de-calais” North of France Beach Tour Tournament.
- A senior round at a Volleyball England beach event etc
- Or a similar event
