Level Two Coaching Course

We are looking to run a Level Two Coaching course at the beginning of the 2013/14 indoor season. With the change to the new UKCC qualification, there has ot been a level two course for a while, tutors are currently going through the new process and exam structure, this should be completed by mid summer and hence we are looking to be one of the first regions to host a UKCC Level 2 course.

If you are not aware, the Level 2 is the minimal qualification required to run a coaching session and courses do not come around that often.

The course will be held over two weekends, our provisional dates are Sept 21/22 & Oct 19/20.

The course fees will be £420 or £450. Funding is available for coach development, a ‘Funding Opportunities Guide for Coaches’ has been developed by ScUK and is available on the SWVA & VE web sites. Local associations and clubs also give development grants to their coaches and hence it is not uncommon for participants to recover 50% to 60% of this fee either direct or in future paid work (you have plenty of time to apply).

UKCC Level two courses can also be run by third party companies e.g. University partnerships with an appropriate course fee mark up. These groups are currently unable to run courses until qualified tutors become available later this year. As well as being the cheapest, this may well be the only place you can do a Level 2 course in 2013.

If interested, YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR INTEREST on the Volleyball England web site, page:

Please note that one of the question is with reference to “How far will you travel (miles)”. We need a minimum of 12 people before we can run the course, not an issue if we have a good number of people register from the SW & S. Wales area. If not then we may have to locate the course towards the North or North East of our region, in order to attract coaches from neighbouring regions.

The UKCC Level 2

The 1st4sport UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Volleyball (L2CCVB) is the next step on the Volleyball England Coach Education Pathway, suitable for those Assistant Coaches who are keen to become an Independent Coach working in a club environment, running practical sessions on their own with an extended knowledge of how to structure, develop and progress towards a 6v6 game of volleyball. The course builds upon the knowledge, understanding and skills attained at UKCC Level 1 moving through the LPV formats of 3 Vs 3 to 4 Vs 4 to 6 Vs 6.

The course will qualify the Coach to practice independently in a club environment where one might find:-

  • School beginner / junior club players.
  • Senior beginner / social, club players in the lower levels of local and/or regional league.

The Independent Coach should be aware that this merely the start of their training and development; an enquiring Coach understands that learning requires Continuous

Professional Development (CPD), achieved through attendance at sport specific and generic workshops that are provided by Volleyball England and other external providers such as sportscoachUK (ScUK).
