South West Schools Results

The second annual South West Schools Beach Volleyball Championships took place at Sandbanks Beach Poole, Dorset. With 48 teams from across the region taking part in some of the best summer conditions the standard of beach volleyball surpassed all expectations of the organiser Denise Austin from the SWVA who said:

“In only our second year we are really pleased to see more counties taking part, with full divisions and tough competition. The event is to raise the profile of the sport within the SW schools are whereas in other sports our region can be hindered with lack of facilities we have the edge over others and it’s good to maximise this.”

The event this year was tagged onto the British Junior Beach Volleyball Championships and was supported by the CEV with donations of balls and nets to the SWVA community which will see the sport grow as a result.

The Sandbanks organisers were brilliant; we turned up, took over their beach for a while and managed to run six divisions, with 100s of matches within a short space of time due to the support structure available in the area.

All being well we hope to be able to utilise the venue and event next year to sustain the work being done across the region. Check out the photos on the FACEBOOK page.
