Top Level European Volleyball Coming to LondonLondon based IBB Polonia will play the next round of their CEV Challenge Cup campaign at the National Sports Centre, Crystal Palace on the 1 February. IBB Polonia will be facing Dutch team, Draisma Dynamo Apeldoorn in the final 16 of the competition, the first time an English club has reached this stage in the competition. In December, Polonia played the last round in two legs against Hungarian side FINO Kaspovar SE, losing the first leg in Hungary 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-20). In the home fixture, played in Belchatow’s Energy Hall in Poland, Polonia, turned over the set deficit winning 3-1 (25-17, 25-22, 19-25, 25-19), forcing the game to go to a Golden Set which they won 15-10. Chris Hykiel, IBB Polonia London Sports Director.said “Other than the 2012 Olympics this will be the highest level of official competitive volleyball ever to take place in England. Just over a year ago, IBB Polonia London were the home team in the London Legacy Volleyball Cup in 2015, but that was not an official CEV event. No other English team has won a match in the CEV Challenge Cup in history. The match is likely to attract a sellout crowd and enormous media interest. This match is not to be missed by any serious volleyball fan” The event starts at 7pm. Tickets are already available via http://polonia.eventbrite.co.uk. More information will be available on the club Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/IBBPoloniaVC) Pic. Pawel Piotrowski |
